Hello Theresa, I want to make this in a baby size so to do so would I just use a smaller hook? or would I have to use less stitches? Thanks for all your videos!
The easiest way to make the cap larger is to use a larger crochet hook. There is also an adult version of this cap. You could use some of the increase rounds from the adult version but not using all of them so it will not be to larger. There will always be trial and error involved with modification in seeking a specific size.
how can i make this a larger size i have a toddler i made it for for Christmas (thanx for posting)but it was too small which she does have a large head lol so what could i do to make it a lil larger??
thanks a lot teresa for your help,
keep up the good work so that we can learn more and more.
I would not know the answer since I have not made it will the smaller cotton. You may need to apply the extra rounds from the adult hat to get it to a toddler size. If you should need it larger than the adult pattern, you can still apply the same techniques for increasing more rounds. With modification of a pattern, there will always be some trial and error involved.
thanks a lot for your reply teresa,
what i have here is a cotton thread, i am gonna use the F hook as you told me, but do you think 6 rounds will be enough to do a toddler hat with that kind of threads.
( if i’m gonna use extra rounds, am i gonna apply the same steps as in the adult star stich hat?).
thanks.
There is cotton thread and cotton yarn. If it is the other cotton yarn I am thinking of, I would suggest a size F or G size hook.
thanks for your reply, but the cotton yarn i am using is much more thinner than yours Teresa, it’s not acrylic.
i am afraid that if i use a bigger hook like the I hook, the hat form will totally change.
i appreciate your help and i’ll try to apply what you’ve said to me.
thanks.
The cotton yarn I have used is about the same size as the acrylic yarn. You can still use a size I/5.5mm crochet hook. I would suggest 100 gm. It will all depend on your specific crochet style. It is always better to have to much yarn than not enough.
hi teresa, if i’m gonna use cotton yarn to do the child hat, then what’s the hook size that i should use?
about the yarn that i’m gonna use, is 50 gr. enough to do the child crochet star stich hat?
waiting for your reply, thank you.
Maybe your yarn was smaller? You can use a larger hook and larger yarn.
hi teresa i try to do with hook”4mm like you but they still small may can you tell me what can ido? thankyou.
GAH! I cannot get it!!!!
You are welcome. I bet your granddaughters are cuties in their hats. I have seen people wear hats all summer long in 90° temps. or higher.
I love this pattern…made it in a solid medium blue…adorable. I’ve been making scarves and now hats for my cousin’s mission project to send tochildren in SD…started making hats to practice different stitches and love making them. I made hats for my 7 year old twin granddaughters in Atlantic Beach FL; they wanted to wear them with their shorts out to play!(Atlantic Beach does have a few cold/coolish days!) Thanks so much for ALL your tutorials and your web site!
You are welcome. The caps are a lot of fun to make.
I want to make hats and scarves for me and the girls and as gifts out of organic thread. I really hope I can catch onto this thank you for getting my attention on these videos.
i did the cap then it curve but it counldnt fit the head
I have the basic crochet stitches in a playlist on my main crochet channel. I also have some easy pattern projects like a little circle and granny squares that make very good practice projects.
i am into cross stitching and i have done alot of it from the past…and now i am really interested in learning crochet. how do i learn, how do i start? pls help. thanks much =)
Ok..Thanks
What you need to do is to slide your stitches. Grab ahold of the chain and slide all your stitches to the right as far as they will go. They will shift. If you find that will not work for you then add another chain or two.
ok…tell me where i could be going wrong at….So I did the first part…5 chains and join and I have a G/6 crochet hook…But I can’t get 20 hdc in my circle….I’m about to over lap to get 20 hdc’s…what could I be doing wrong?
I like your Work alot
thanks
that was to LADYXCAKELYN BTW
